Hello everyone! My name is Amelie Ruiz and I am this year’s director for the World Health Organization committee! I am extremely excited to meet all of you and see what you have prepared for what might be your first conference. Though MUN has helped me enhance my research and public speaking skills, I have also made great relationships and memories with those in the program which truly makes MUN feel like a family. Throughout my MUN journey, I have learned to embrace every lesson learned and opportunity the program has had to offer, whether it's writing my speeches the 2 days before the committee (I don’t recommend this), or going on conference trips with other delegates. Outside of school, I am a coxswain for Newport Aquatic Center, UCLA Mattel Youth Ambassador, volunteer at my local hospital, and work at a podiatric clinic. In my free time, you’ll catch me blasting house music, Harry Styles, or No doubt depending on the type of day, trying a new cooking recipe, or getting a sweet treat at Island Bodega. Anyway, I encourage you to step out of your comfort zone, voice your ideas, make new friends, and overall be engaged. If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to contact me.
