My name is Lucas Martinez, and I am super excited to be chairing UNODC at the Cerritos MUN Fall Conference of 2022! As a senior in MUN, I can proudly say that Model UN has been the highlight of my high school career. In four short years, I was able to amplify my public speaking and research skills, travel, and meet people from all over the world. Outside of MUN, I like to watch and play soccer, listen to music, travel, and name flags. You can also find me spending time with family and friends, trying new foods, and at the gym. I love to spend time learning new languages. I already know Chinese (Mandarin) and Spanish, and I’m working on Italian, Arabic, Portuguese, and Korean!Through four years of Model UN, I’ve come to realize how beneficial the program is. I went from trembling at the podium with a paper in my hand to trembling at the podium without a paper in my hand! On a more serious note, I truly understood my immense growth when I was given the task of speaking to more than 2,500 people at a national conference in New York. I understand how stressful MUN can be at times, but I can promise you that it’ll positively impact you in the long run. I seriously can’t imagine life without Model UN. (Don’t forget it looks good on college apps!) What I want to see most from this conference is clear research, preparation, and collaboration. I’m beyond excited for the start of committee and can’t wait to hear everyone’s amazing solutions. Remember to try your best and don’t forget to have fun! Don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions regarding the topic, topic synopsis, or the flow/structure of committee.
