I am Sylas Supancheck, the Director for the UNEP Committee. This year marks the fourth year I have been in MUN, and this topic is one of the more interesting topics I’ve come across. In total, I’ve attended 10 MUN conferences ranging from preventing arms proliferation to expanding broadband internet connectivity back to addressing territorial disputes and debating the rights of genetic privacy. MUN has definitely bolstered my ability to think critically, under pressure, and collaboratively while also expanding my knowledge on topics from all different perspectives. MUN, to me, is a marriage of presentation, charisma, and research, and I thoroughly believe that just learning one of those traits (and learning it well) will prepare you for a successful future. Outside of MUN, I simply like to play video games with my friends and listen to music while I work. A couple genres I like to listen to are indie rock, pop rock, J-rock, bedroom pop, alternative pop, indie pop, hyperpop, J-pop, J-jazz, vocaloid, alternative hip hop, underground hip hop, cutecore, alternative R&B, pop R&B, West Coast R&B, American trap, rap, aesthetic rap, stoner rap, pop rap, new age, bossa nova, electronic, house, and a couple niche ones that I won’t mention. But other than that, I’m just a regular dude who likes hanging around people. In this conference I’m not expecting perfection, and I’m not expecting greatness, but I do expect you to participate and try your best. Mess up as many times as you need, but no matter what, never give up. Feel free to ask me anything (seriously, anything).
