I’m Guadalupe Duran, and I’m honored to be your director for this year's UNEP committee. Throughout my Model UN involvement, I have grown a passion for providing responses to environmental issues and injustices which have impacted me to take leadership in community service aimed toward the preservation of our environment, and I hope this will impact you as well. Although at times, it may be nerve-racking and challenging to speak in front of a large group of students, discussing topics, it's important to remember that every other person in the room is just as nervous and anxious to do the same. Remember that although this consists of wanting to be the best in the room, it's important to be yourself and do your best, meanwhile having fun and making memories. Aside from Model UN, I am on the school's swim and water polo team, where I have made amazing friendships and memories. Other than that, I’m in clubs such as Latinos Unidos, NHS, Surfrider, Jumpstart, Educators Rising, and Class Committee. I enjoy partaking in my community and do all that I can to provide support to those struggling and who lack the resources to excel in all that they wish to do. Outside of school, I enjoy baking, going for a swim, hiking, eating food, going to the gym, and hanging out with friends and family. Overall, I enjoy going out on adventures and spending time with those who make me happiest!I’m looking forward to seeing you all in committee and hearing what you all have to share about this amazing topic.
