My name is William Morante Jr., and I am thrilled to be your chair for UN Women for Cerritos MUN 2026, where we will be discussing and addressing the role of women in the informal economy. I am looking forward to the diplomacy and extensive research that delegates bring to committee about the ongoing issue of persistent gender disparities. I chose this topic because of its complexity and the wide range of issues that lead to recurring challenges for women finding economic opportunities. While it is important to have fun and be silly, I emphasize the importance of being diplomatic and respectful as we debate one of the world’s largest problems—gender inequality. I have been involved with MUN for three years, with a particular focus on human rights through committees like UNIFEM, UNICEF, and UNHRC. Outside of MUN, I have been a part of student government for the past 7 years, finishing my high school career as ASB Executive President. Additionally, you will probably find me running around campus because I have been in cross country for the past 4 years, as well as CHS’s boys' volleyball team. As the day of the committee gets closer, I understand that many of you may be feeling anxious or scared; it’s completely normal, and even I have been in your shoes before. I undoubtedly know that all of you have done more than enough research to prepare for this conference. Know that mistakes are normal, and get ready for committee! |
