Hello, delegates, my name is Mina Itzel, and I am the director of UN WOMEN at the CHSMUN 2024 Fall Conference! I have been an active member of our Model UN program for four years here at CHS. Along with MUN I also fill my time with being on officer boards of clubs, such as Latinos Unidos, being a thrower for our Cerritos Track and Field team, and most importantly conducting activities to help my community. In hopes of giving you guys a little background on myself, I believe that one thing that describes me best is cultural pride. My roots trace back to El Rincon, a small town in the Mexican state of Durango that has by far become where I most associate happiness. As a young child, my mom has done a great job teaching me the importance of our background, and in relation to the committee topic, my indigenous roots. Due to this, it is no surprise that my favorite subject is history, with my favorite class by far being AP U.S. History! I am someone with mixed likes and my music taste is a great example of such. I can go from listening to Junior H, Luke Combs, PartyNextDoor, to ACDC, and eventually back to my favorite rapper J. Cole. I enjoy listening to different points of view on controversial topics, so I encourage the speaking of unique solutions and positions (as long as they are respectful) during the committee. I can’t wait to watch you guys' debate! |
