Hello delegates! My name is Mira Nguyen, and I am truly honored to serve as your 4th SPD chair. Over the past three years, I have immersed myself in the Model United Nations program at Cerritos High School, a journey that began somewhat by accident but has profoundly shaped me into the passionate advocate and chatterbox I am today. But that love for discourse is exactly what makes MUN so captivating to me. Within MUN, I have not only engaged in some of the most stimulating debates but also built a foundation for myself and for this year’s Sophomore MUN class as their Instructor’s Aid (IA). Model United Nations has given me the unique opportunity to delve into global crises, particularly those involving the protection of vulnerable populations, including the geographically oppressed, displaced, and refugees. My advice to each of you is simple: remain open to changing your perspective, engage with diplomacy, and, most importantly, speak with confidence. I encourage you to focus on developing feasible, long-term solutions grounded in sound logistical reasoning. Beyond MUN, I am involved in a wide range of activities at Cerritos High School, proudly holding seven different club officer positions, ranging from the Southeast Asian Student Association to the Business and Economics Club and Cerritos Girls Tennis Captain, so you can often find me dabbling between meetings or games during lunch. Outside of school, I’m a fan of Wes Anderson films, particularly “Moonrise Kingdom” and “The Isle of Dogs,” crafting the perfect 20-ingredient-tiered CAVA bowl, and listening to the oldest of tunes… Some facts about me outside of my tennis prodigy or master chef journey, you’ll find out I lived in the Netherlands for ten years and can cross my pinky toe over my fourth toe! I look forward to seeing you all and hearing some outside the box solutions! Feel free to reach out to me with any questions through the committee email. See you soon!

What’s good everybody! My name is Howard Lee and I am deeply honored to be your Assistant Chair for this MUN Conference. I love MUN, and have been doing it for 4 years with Cerritos. My life has been changed for the better forever, from research to public speaking to relationship building. Going to New York and competing with my best friend is the best experience, and the stress is all worth it. You get what you put into MUN, so I kindly request that you give at least 80% of your best this conference. It’ll get better over time, and the connections you make will last a long time.
If I were to recommend anything to you guys, it would be to always take risks and ask questions. It’s never too late to sign up for anything, and as long as you put more work in than other people it'll eventually pay off. Talk to the people you’re scared to talk to, and they’ll bring you to places you never thought you’d go. The first impression isn’t everything, and if you make the effort to befriend people or learn from them you’ll become a better person overall. Always stay true to yourself though, because self-validation is so much stronger than depending on others’ approval or praise. I have so much faith in all of you even though I don’t know you guys yet. My life philosophy is to ride the wave, and I’ve gotten three girlfriends and a fire resume off of that. When I’m not doing MUN, I love performing for my lion dance troupe, (shoutout JC Culture Foundation!) running 10 miles with my cross country team, and yelling at my friends while playing Brawl Stars. I also joined ASB in Junior year, becoming the Exec Treasurer in one year, and had an internship at the LA District Attorney’s Office. I could not have gotten to where I am today without MUN, so if you want to be successful, continue down this path. You will not regret it.
