Director: Isabell Pan
My name is Isabell Pan and I’m absolutely thrilled to be your Director for the OCHA committee! In this committee, we will be addressing the complications and barriers that come from providing education in conflict affected areas, amidst collaborating with one another to propose solutions that promote education within these zones. I joined MUN in my sophomore year and I feel that it has allowed me to grow in all aspects of my life, pushing me to be more outgoing, strengthening my public speaking skills, and improving my confidence. This year is my third and final year in Cerritos High School's MUN program and I’m honored to finish my high school career as your Director. Joining MUN has been one of the best things that ever happened to me during my four years here and I highly encourage you all to continue this program. Outside of MUN, I’m currently the Vice President of Take Lead, a club in our school that focuses on refining our leadership skills. Additionally, I’m the Director of Publicity for the Taiwanese Club. I’m deeply passionate about these clubs as they resemble who I am as a person and what communities I’ve been involved with in these past years. In my spare time, I often spend hours playing video games, drawing, or doomscrolling on Instagram. I also enjoy collecting duck related items, ranging from a giant duck plush sitting on my bed, to small plastic ducks that I randomly found at school and kept in my pencil case since freshman year. One of the things I wish I knew in my first year of MUN is just how important preparation is. Memorizing your speech and understanding your information thoroughly allows you to speak confidently. If you know your topic well, you can come up with so many interesting and unique solutions that no other delegate could devise. Also, don’t be afraid to speak up! Even if you might be scared or unsure about your idea, it’s always best to give it a shot rather than not trying at all. Throughout the committee, I hope to see some creative solutions, engaging hooks, and plenty of placards being raised! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to send an email to the committee email listed below. I’m so excited to see you all and I wish you the best of luck!
