Director: Rachel Hawara My name is Rachel Hawara, and I am so excited to be your director for the OCHA committee at our Cerritos Fall Novice Conference! This will be my fourth year in MUN, and I have been part of committees encompassing subjects concerning the environment, housing issues, women’s rights, and even new Arctic shipping lanes. I believe that the MUN experience is a great way to get out of your comfort zone, which has helped me in so many ways. I began my journey as a timid speaker, but with the help of my advisors and upperclassmen role models, I was able to come out of my shell and have fun in committee while still being able to win awards! I have made so many memories with my class and still speak to people abroad that I have met through MUN. Some of my favorite memories come from exploring New York City before NHSMUN, trying new food places at college conferences like UCI and UCLA, and becoming friends with people from all over the world. Outside of this program, I like to stay active by playing volleyball, both beach and indoor, and am a part of the Varsity Girls Volleyball Team here at Cerritos. I really enjoy watching movies—some of my favorites are Napoleon Dynamite, The Karate Kid, The Royal Tenebaums, and Ratatouille, but I am always open to any new suggestions! I also have a pet rabbit named FooFoo. I am passionate about animals and hope to become a veterinarian in the future! I think animals in the water are pretty cool too. While I hope you will be well versed in this topic, just remember to have fun and enjoy yourself as the committee progresses.
