My name is Ethan Sohn, and I am very excited to be your director for the ECOSOC committee at our Cerritos Fall Novice Conference! I am entering my fourth year of Model United Nations, and I am beyond grateful for how it has shaped my high school journey. When I first joined, I was scared to speak up, but as I continued my journey, I grew more confident in speaking and leading, helping me become who I am today. Not only this, but being a part of MUN has led me to form some of my strongest friendships. Through MUN, I have become more confident in my speaking abilities, improved my research skills, and learned to work with others in a committee setting. My favorite MUN memory has to be spending time with my friends at the National High School MUN conference, my junior year, and I encourage anyone to attend if the opportunity arises! Outside of MUN, you can find me at the beach surfing or at the gym getting an immaculate pump. I play on Cerritos’ Varsity Soccer team and love to play pick-ups whenever I’m not busy with schoolwork. If I’m not busy playing soccer or studying, you can catch me listening to reggae through my favorite artist, Rebelution, or raving to Rufus Du Sol. On weekends, you can see me volunteering at the Aquarium or eating out with friends, whether that be to Ngon Yummy for their pho or Sweetee Thai for their scrumptious pad thai. While the MUN pathway may not be an easy one, it is, without a doubt, the most rewarding and will prove its worth if you put the work in. I am looking forward to hearing all of your solutions on marine protection in committee!
